🇫🇷 Sovereign alternative
The French alternative to WeTransfer, encrypted end-to-end
Send your sensitive files with zero-knowledge encryption and automatic self-destruction. Hosted in France, under French jurisdiction, with no tracking.
Why WeTransfer falls short
WeTransfer is convenient, but not built for confidential data.
The provider can access your files
Files are encrypted at rest with AES-256, but WeTransfer holds the keys. There is no zero-knowledge encryption: the company can technically read what you send. Source
Your data leaves French jurisdiction
WeTransfer is headquartered in the Netherlands and owned by Italy's Bending Spoons since 2024. Source
An AI clause that raised concern in 2025
WeTransfer changed its terms to allow uploaded files to be used for training AI models, before removing the clause under pressure. Source

What Pli Scellé changes
The server never sees your files
In zero-knowledge mode, encryption happens in your browser. The key stays in the share link, never sent to our servers. Even we cannot open your files.
Everything disappears
Each share self-destructs after expiration, from 1 hour to 30 days by plan, then the content is purged. No copy kept.
Hosted in France
Your data stays under French law, beyond the reach of the Cloud Act, with no transfer outside the European Union.
And the rest
Protect a share with a password, cap the number of views, and receive files through a receive link without the sender needing an account.
Who it is for
Pli Scellé is used by teams that cannot afford a leak: law firms, HR departments, finance teams, healthcare professionals and public administrations.
Frequently asked questions
- Is WeTransfer safe?
- For everyday use, transfers are encrypted in transit and at rest. But the provider holds the keys and can access files, and data is hosted outside France. For confidential documents, zero-knowledge encryption is preferable.
- Where is my data hosted with Pli Scellé?
- Exclusively in France, in datacenters located in mainland France. No transfer of your files outside the European Union.
- Can I send large files?
- File size depends on the plan: 100 MB on Free, 500 MB on Discover, 5 GB on Essential, 10 GB on Pro and Enterprise.
- Is it really zero-knowledge?
- Yes. Your files are encrypted in your browser before upload. The decryption key stays in the URL fragment, which is never sent to the server. We never hold that key, so your files stay unreadable, including to us.
- How much does it cost?
- A free plan covers simple transfers. Zero-knowledge encryption starts with the Discover plan, at €17 per month.
